My zazen Water system is leaking. What do I need to do?Updated a month ago
Don't stress - help is here! If your zazen Alkaline Water System is leaking, this is usually easily fixed as can be viewed in this simple 5 minute video, or read below for more information.
- Overfilling: The bottom tank holds 8 litres of water ONLY. You cannot fill the upper tank if the bottom tank is already full, as this will cause water to overspill between the two tanks.
- The Multi-Stage Filter is overflowing: If the water seems to be flowing out of your top tank faster than the Multi-Stage Filter in the bottom tank can filter it, there may be air bubbles in the Multi-Stage Filter. You will need to follow these steps:
- Take off the top tank and remove the Multi-Stage Filter.
- Fill a 2-litre jug (or similar) with clean, cold water.
- Submerge the Multi-Stage Filter fully for 1 minute or until the air bubbles stop coming out of the filter.
- Remove the filter from the jug and hold it over the sink.
- Pour about 2.5 litres of clean, cold water slowly through the top of the filter, ensuring the water runs out the bottom. Knock the filter firmly against your hand several times during this rinse cycle to help clear any remaining air bubbles. Continue pouring water through the filter.
After this, screw your Multi-Stage Filter back into the Cartridge Connector and place it back into the system.
- There is an Alkalinity Enhancer (AAE) (or a few) stuck inside your tap: This can happen if the system has been moved, causing the AAE(s) to sit very close to the back of the tap. To resolve this:
- Drain your system (use the water for drink bottles, your kettle, plants, etc.) to avoid wasting water.
- Unscrew the magnetic back of the tap and remove it from the tank. Give the tap a shake and a tap to see if any AAE beads come out. If nothing comes out, proceed to step 3.
- Unscrew the band that the silver lever is attached to by turning it anticlockwise, while holding the lever in the other hand. The lever will pop off the tap, allowing you to see any AAE beads lodged inside.
- Once the beads are cleared, screw the lever back into the tap, place the tap through the hole in the lower tank, with a silicone washer on each side. Screw the magnetic back onto the tap inside the bottom tank and tighten.
- Magnetic Tap has been over-tightened: If your system is leaking around the magnetic tap, it may be because the back of the tap has been over-tightened. This pushes out the silicone washers, preventing them from sealing properly around the tap hole. If the washers are too loose, they may also allow water to escape. To fix this:
- Empty the bottom tank.
- Remove the top part of the system and check the back of the tap inside the system.
