If you've noticed water moving through your Ceramic Pre-Filter a little faster than you remember, you're not imagining it.

We've optimised the Ceramic Pre-Filter to improve water flow by up to 20%, reducing top tank filtration time by up to 30 minutes, without compromising its critical pre-filtration performance or the protection it provides to the specialised Multi-Stage Filter.

In fact, the improvement was carefully engineered to deliver a better customer experience while maintaining the Ceramic's most important role: protecting the advanced zazen Multi-Stage Filter that follows.

The Ceramic Pre-Filter remains an essential part of the zazen Hydro-Genesis™ process, continuing to perform the same critical protective function it always has - now with improved water flow and greater convenience.

The Ceramic Pre-Filter - Protector of the zazen Water System

The Ceramic Pre-Filter isn't simply the first stage of the zazen Hydro-Genesis™ process - it's the protector of everything that follows.

With microscopic pores of approximately 0.5–1 micron, it captures:

• Bacteria, parasites, cysts, sediment, rust, dirt, sand, silt and other microscopic particles and micro-plastics in our tap and drinking water before they reach the specialised zazen Multi-Stage Filter.

This is far more than a filtration step.

What the Ceramic Pre-Filter Protects

By preventing these larger particles and microorganisms found in all our tap and drinking water from entering the 2nd stage of our Hydro-genesis process - the zazen Multi-Stage Filter, the Ceramic Pre-Filter helps protect the “specialised filtration media inside” from unnecessary loading:

Does the faster flow affect filtration quality?

No. Flow rate and filtration quality are two different things, and improving one hasn't cost you the other. Your Ceramic Pre-Filter still filters to less than 1 micron, fine enough to trap microplastics and other fine particles. The improvement changes how quickly water moves through the filter, it does not change what the filter removes.

Has something changed with my filter cartridge or replacement schedule?

No. This is an improvement to the Ceramic Pre-Filter's flow performance only. Your zazen Multi-Stage Filter cartridge life and replacement schedule remain the same as before.

Is my system still safe to use as normal?

Yes. Nothing about this update changes how your system should be used day to day. Fill, filter, drink exactly as always.

What to expect as the tank empties

As the water level in your top tank drops and less of the zazen Ceramic dome is covered, the flow rate will naturally slow back down to around 2 to 3 drips per second. This is completely normal and part of how the system works.

So across a single fill cycle, you may notice:

• A stronger stream when the top tank is full

• A gradual return to a slower drip as the water level lowers

Both are exactly right.
